Service Dog Training

The ADA defines a service animal as a dog that has been specifically trained to do work or perform a task for an individual with a disability. The task needs to be directly related to the person’s disability.

Getting an already trained service dog can be costly. Typically these dogs are raised from the beginning to be a service dog, going through puppy stages, socialization, basic and advanced training, task training, and public access training before they are even placed with someone. The cost can be anywhere from $25,000 on up and usually a very long wait list!

There are lots of dogs however who can do the work and provide this service. They could come from shelters, rescues, breeders, or could currently be your very own dog! Dog-Gone Capable LLC is now offering training for owner’s interested in learning how to train their own dog to be a service dog or get help in finding a suitable match. This program is designed to give you all the guidance needed for you to learn how to train your dog in the comfort of your own home and in and around your community.
